Tamil Nadu Doctors Housing Welfare Private Trust has been formed by the initiative of TN Govt Doctors Association, Chennai district on 10/11/2005 as a nonprofit Organisation with the objective of serving the doctors in the areas of investment, asset creation, asset management etc.

The nucleus of the concept originated at about 13 years back when the TNGDA at that time had formed TN Govt Doctors Co-Operative Housing Society .The Society in association with pager companies and cell phone companies could serve more than 2000 doctors by helping them acquire pagers and cell phones at half of the cost prevailing at that time .It was a great success and the society was benefited to the extent of about Rs.2.75 Lakhs(1% of 2.75 Crores of total sale proceeds). Later on it could do about 800 air conditioners & 140 computers. However the popularly known "DOCTORS SCHEME" could not be continued due to several practical problems. Later on 16 flats known as Doctors Enclave could be promoted at Perambur.The concept expanded in to a Doctors City at Tambaram with about 40 joyful owners of individual plots. Subsequently to stream line the operations the TAMILNADU DOCTORS HOUSING WELFARE TRUST has been formed.

The Trust has the following respectful doctors at the helm of affairs. Dr.Major D. Raja, Former Vice Chancellor TN Dr MGR Medical University as author of the Trust and Dr.V.MuthuVeerappan former RMO Govt Royapettah Hospital as the Managing Trustee, Prof.I.Kandasamy former director of Barnard Institute of Radiology, Govt. General Hospital, Prof.U.S.AnandaKumar M.D., Trustee, TNGDA Chennai is also closely involved in the affairs of the trust, since it has a moral responsibility being the initiator. As of now it is proposed to invite the office bearers of IMA (State), Medical Council (India & Tamilnadu) as ex-Offico Members to ensure absolute confidence in the functioning of the trust

The TAMILNADU DOCTORS HOUSING WELFARE TRUST is progressing in the right direction.

The Board of Trustees felt the need of ensuring greater transparency in the functioning of the trust. The Board has been expanded with the inclusion of Dr.K.Prakasam, Presiden t- TamilNadu Medical Council, Dr.A.Muruganathan - Member Medical Council of India and Dr.A.P.Sambandan, Professor - MGMC & RI, Pondicherry.
